June

I can't believe it's June already. Where does the time go? For those of us living in the US on the Gulf of Mexico or Eastern coast, it is now hurricane season. Not our favorite time of year. Hopefully there will not be too much activity this year although all the experts are predicting a busy season.

I have been busy knitting. I won't be able to wear what I finish probably until November, but I keep on knitting anyway. First up, a finished object. This is the Simply Garter vest from Cheryl Oberle's Folk Vests. I knit it out of Crystal Palace Taos yarn. I'm happy with the results. It even fits!!! I did make some modifications to the original pattern. I made it longer and a little more fitted.I have been working on my February Lady sweater. I have the body done and am working on the first sleeve. For some reason I have really been slow on this sweater. I have put it down a number of times, but I am determined to finish it. This yarn is Classic Elite Inca Marl, a 100% alpaca yarn knitted on US size 8 (5mm) needles for the body and US size 7 (4.5mm) for the sleeves.
I was cleaning and organizing my closet this past weekend and came across this. This is my Icarus shawl that was started back in 2007. I knew it was in the closet, because I just got tired of it. However, now I have picked it back up and have been working on it. I think it will turn out really pretty if I can keep going. I am knitting this out of Ziddlesticks Knitting JaggerSpun Zephyr Wool-Silk 50% merino wool and 50% tussah silk. The color way is Admiral, and I am knitting on US size 4 (3.5mm) needles.
And of course, I have been knitting socks. I finished these up a week or two ago. This is my plain top down sock out of Lorna's Laces sock yarn in the Blue Jeans colorway. Knit on US size 2(2.75mm) needles.
I have finished one sock of this pair. Again, plain, top down sock knit out of a one of a kind yarn from Knitivity. Ray Whiting is a dyer here in Houston who does some great work. This particular yarn was a one of a kind using left over dyes. I love the way it is spiraling around the sock. (Sorry it is upside down. I forgot to rotate the photo before I blogged.) Also knit on US size 2 (2.75mm) needles.
I have some other projects in mind, but have not started them yet. I found another vest I want to knit and I have the yarn for it, but I want to try to finish some of these projects first. Hopefully I will be able to keep on track.
